Since the beginning of Seiko in 1881, the company has continued to innovate in line with founder Kintaro Hattori’s philosophy to be "Always one step ahead of the rest." In 1924, the company introduced the first wristwatch with “Seiko” on the dial, signifying the beginning of the Seiko brand. The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of this landmark event.
The new watch features a sub-dial at 12 o’clock that measures elapsed time in increments of 1/20th of a second. Thanks to the new movement design, this is the first Seiko Astron to have a sub-dial at the 12 o’clock position. A sub-dial at the six o’clock position displays the time in a second time zone and becomes a 12-hour counter when the stopwatch function is used. The chronograph’s use is indicated on the sub-dial at the nine o’clock position, which also displays the charging status, day of the week, and in-flight mode.
The new Caliber 5X83 automatically connects up to twice a day to the GPS network, and connects manually with the simple push of a button, to maintain its precision anywhere in the world**. The time of day displayed on the main dial can be switched with the one on the six o’clock sub-dial by holding down two buttons for three seconds. The main dial and sub-dial hands move simultaneously, making the time required for the transfer significantly shorter with the new Caliber 5X83 than with Caliber 5X53.
The limited edition’s all-black case and bracelet, sunray-patterned dial, and yellow-gold-colored accents evoke a view of the earth at night as seen from an orbiting satellite, an image that perfectly channels the groundbreaking technology behind Astron GPS Solar. The two-part bezel consists of a multi-faceted ceramic upper portion and a yellow-gold-colored titanium frame to create a brilliance that further evokes this shimmering night view. Ceramic is also used for the bracelet’s center links and the tip of the crown.
The yellow-gold-colored case back carries company founder Kintaro Hattori’s name and the trademark "S" that he registered in 1900 as a symbol of the Seikosha factory. Just above the trademark appears the phrase that so aptly captured his philosophy for the company.
The watch is offered in a special presentation box with an additional extra-strength silicone strap and a commemorative "S" mark metal pin.
*If there are changes in the region / time zone / DST, manual selection may be required.
**When the dial detects sunlight, the watch connects to the GPS satellite network and adjusts automatically to the correct time. If the watch is hidden from light, it remembers the time of its last successful manual connection and attempts to receive the GPS signal again at that same time.
The commemorative timepiece will be available in June 2024 at select Seiko Boutiques and retail stores worldwide as a limited edition of 1,000.
The new movement’s enhanced energy-charging efficiency allows the main dial and sub-dials to have contrasting colors and textures, creating a more dynamic and sporty presence.
In addition to the commemorative watch, three creations that are also powered by the new Caliber 5X83 join the main Seiko Astron collection. Just like the limited edition, the watches feature a two-part bezel that includes an upper part in ceramic and a titanium frame. The bezel is marked with the word "CHRONOGRAPH” along with Arabic numerals. Thanks to the low center of gravity of the titanium case and the dual-curved sapphire glass with super-clear coating, the watches ensure high levels of comfort and legibility.
The three watches joining the main Astron collection will be available from July 2024 at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide.

The new watch features multiple updates in technology, design, and construction.
In the decades since it introduced Japan’s first diver’s watch, Seiko has created a wide range of diver’s watches that have won the favor of professionals and enthusiasts worldwide for their safety, reliability, and ease of use. One such model is the SPB143, introduced in 2020. With water resistance to 200m and a power reserve of 70 hours, this watch has received worldwide acclaim for its functionality and its vintage-style design inspired by Seiko’s original diver’s watch, the legendary 62MAS. Today, Seiko introduces into the Prospex collection a range of watches based on the fan-favorite SPB143 that feature multiple enhancements in technology, design, and construction. Black dial and blue dial versions join the main Prospex collection, while a commemorative special edition with gold-colored accents celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand.
Just like the SPB143, the new creations reimagine the design of Seiko’s original 1965 diver’s watch.
Each watch is powered by one of Seiko’s latest in-house movements, Caliber 6R55, which has a power reserve that extends to 72 hours, or three full days. This marks the first time that Caliber 6R55 has appeared in the Prospex collection. The new watches are further enhanced to ensure water resistance to 300m, a first for the Prospex collection’s non-saturation diver’s watches. A change in the location of the date window from the three o’clock position to the space between four and five o’clock now allows a more symmetrical design and more space to be filled with Lumibrite, ensuring high legibility even in dark conditions.
The shorter lugs also contribute to the enhanced wearability of the watches.
Even with the many upgrades that enhance performance, each watch has been redesigned to be more compact, with a diameter of 40mm, lug-to-lug length of 46.4mm, and thickness of 13mm, while maintaining the reliability, safety, and ease of use required of a Seiko diver’s watch. Each watch features a stainless steel bezel with an aluminum insert for a slim design that delivers a classic feel and appearance, with minute markings that now extend under the numerals of the bezel display. The bezel’s minute markings and numerals are laser-engraved to prevent their wear from long periods of use. Thanks to a new bracelet with shorter links and a smaller clasp, the watch achieves a higher level of comfort as it conforms to the wearer’s wrist.
The special edition features the same specifications as the blue and black dial versions.
Since the beginning of Seiko in 1881, the company has continued to innovate in line with the founder's philosophy to be "Always one step ahead of the rest." In 1924, the company introduced the first wristwatch with “Seiko” on the dial, signifying the beginning of the Seiko brand. The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of this landmark event. In celebration, a third creation with a charcoal-grey-colored dial is introduced as a special edition. Its gold-colored accents are intended to evoke the many watchmaking advances brought forth under the Seiko name over the last century.
Thanks to its unique braiding pattern, the strap has the flexibility and air permeability to ensure maximum comfort on the wrist.
The special edition comes with an additional strap made entirely of recycled plastic bottles. It was created using a traditional Japanese braiding technique called Seichu, familiar in Japanese culture for its use in fabric designs. The rich texture and sheen that result from the technique can be observed in the traditional obijime, the decorative cord that holds a kimono sash in place. The strap presents a uniquely Japanese aesthetic and texture and is specially manufactured to have a tensile strength nearly four times that of regular Seiko fabric straps*. The strap’s strength and resistance to the degradation caused by exposure to sunlight meet the demanding standards required of Seiko diver’s watches, and it is perfect for use underwater.
*based on research conducted by Seiko.

Since its introduction in 2016, the Presage collection has melded Japanese artistry with Seiko’s longstanding mastery of mechanical watchmaking. With the new Classic Series, Presage draws from the colors, materials, and textures of traditional Japanese crafts to express the soft and gentle side of Japanese design. The series makes its debut with five new creations, each conveying a traditional sense of Japanese beauty while bringing the mechanical watchmaking for which Seiko is renowned to the fore.
With a dial inspired by lustrous silk fabric, the watch emits a refined sparkle.
The recessed sub-dial and view of the movement provide accents to the watch’s display.
At the heart of the new series are richly textured, curved dials that express the soft and supple feel of natural textiles whose use is interwoven into Japan’s culture. The series features two different dial configurations and sets of functions. The dials of the three-hand with date creations are inspired by lustrous silk fabric, while the two open-heart watches express the texture of raw silk yarn through a radial pattern. With their curvature and intricately textured patterns, the dials capture and reflect ambient light to create a heightened sense of depth and beauty. The tops of the indexes curve to conform with the dials’ rounded shape, and the minute and seconds hands bend gently toward the markers.
The series makes its debut with dials in four traditional colors, left to right: shiro-iro, sensaicha, araigaki, and sumi-iro.
Each watch imparts a warm luster to the traditional Japanese color it expresses. These include shiro-iro, the color of unbleached natural fabric, which inspires two dials in the collection; sensaicha, a dark brownish-green that was fashionable during the Edo Period; araigaki, a washed and bleached persimmon color; and sumi-iro, a greyish black originally used in garments worn by monks.
The case has a refined construction. Viewed from the side, it has a slim appearance.
The case is constructed with soft, curved surfaces, and the dual-curved sapphire crystal echoes the contours of the dome-shaped dial, adding further depth to the overall design.
The short length of each link enhances the bracelet’s comfort.
A newly developed multi-row bracelet with design inspiration from the 1970s provides a delicate and comfortable feeling on the wrist. The bracelet’s links have an ergonomic shape, with a curved top surface and a reduction of contact points around the wrist for a comfortable fit and enhanced aesthetics.
Three of the watches have the classic three-hand configuration with central seconds and date, while the remaining two bear a 24-hour scale and a dial opening onto the movement’s escapement at 9 o’clock. Powering each new watch is one of two recently introduced Seiko 6R movements that run for 72 hours, ensuring that a watch removed Friday evening will be ready to wear on Monday morning without having to be reset. The three-hand watches with date use Caliber 6R55, while Caliber 6R5J powers the open-heart watches. Each movement’s gold-colored oscillating weight is visible through an exhibition case back.
All five watches will be available from June 2024 at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide.

The artistry of traditional Japanese craftsmanship is a central feature of the Seiko Presage Collection, combining fine mechanical watchmaking with various forms of art. Studio Ghibli’s animated films have won the favor of fans worldwide for their imaginative settings, distinctive visuals, and masterful storytelling. Today, Seiko introduces into the Presage Craftsmanship Series a new enamel-dialed watch that captures the worldview of one of the most renowned Japanese animated films ever: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
Released in 1984, the film takes place 1,000 years after the destruction of modern civilization in a war known as the Seven Days of Fire. In the polluted land, a forest of fungi called the Sea of Decay is gradually spreading and is inhabited by a species of giant mutant insects.
Nausicaä, the Princess of the Valley of the Wind, becomes embroiled in a struggle between two kingdoms. She strives to unravel the mysteries of the Sea of Decay and find a way for the natural world and human beings to coexist.
Details from the film are reflected in every aspect of the watch
The new watch illustrates the animated world of this story through the many details of its design. The overall design of the watch is round and curved, taking inspiration from the tools and machines used by Nausicaä in the film. The case has a textured, vintage-style finish, and is protected with a super-hard coating. It resembles the kind of well-worn tools that appear in the film. The uniquely shaped crown, newly designed for this watch, has a large size to ensure ease of use. A blue crystal glass adorns the crown to express the eye of the Ohms, a giant, shell-covered, trilobite-like species central to the film’s plot.
The gigantic Ohms are feared by people. Nausicaä successfully attempts to communicate with the Ohms and gains their trust.
An Ohm is stamped on the tip of the inner side of the strap.
The pure blue enamel dial has been newly created to represent a blue outfit worn by the story’s heroine. The color was carefully examined and precisely adjusted during the manufacturing process to create the perfect shade of blue, a process made possible through the skill of master craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team, who specialize in enamel production. The white hour and minute hands, as well as the indexes, stand out against the blue dial to enhance legibility, while the seconds hand provides a gold-toned accent. The hour and minute hands have a rounded, leaf-like shape while the white indexes have an elongated shape, allowing the time to be read at a glance. The emblem from one of Nausicaä’s blue outfits is printed at the six o’clock position.
A new version of Caliber 6R55 joins the 6R series
The watch is powered by Caliber 6R51, a new version of Seiko’s high-performance 6R55 movement. Like Caliber 6R55, this new version delivers a power reserve of 72 hours and has the same performance attributes, only without the date display to emphasize the beauty of the craft dial.
The wearer can view the movement’s gold-colored oscillating weight through a display case back, together with a depiction of the end scene, in which a non-toxic plant sprouts out from deep under the Sea of Decay, making one imagine that the earth has been cleansed.
A legend of the Valley of the Wind that is expressed in the film, “Clothed in blue robes, descending onto a golden field” is engraved on the gold-plated case back.
The watch is offered in a special presentation box with an illustration of a scene from the film. The box carries a message card in Japanese from the film’s director, Hayao Miyazaki.
The watch will be available as a limited edition of 1,500 at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide from March 2024.

Two new models join the Seiko Presage STAR BAR series. The dial of each watch is decorated with a gradation of the changing colors and a wavy pattern reminiscent of clouds floating in the sky.
The first bartender to be awarded the "Contemporary Master Craftsman" award, STAR BAR owner Hisashi Kishi created the original cocktails that inspired each watch. The cocktails themselves were inspired by the beautiful sunsets of Tokyo, Japan.

The original watch from 1924 was the first creation to be introduced by the Seiko company after the Seikosha factory was destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923.
The new creation captures the vintage character of the original watch in every detail. The Seiko letters at the 12 o’clock position take the wearer back in time by recalling the distinctive typeface of that era, and the Arabic numerals, whose font pays homage to the original, incorporate both thick and slender lines to create a bold and dynamic font.
Set against the pristine white enamel dial, the retro-styled blue hands capture the vintage feel of the original.
Just as with the 1924 original, the new watch features an enamel dial whose depth and beauty are made possible thanks to master craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his colleagues, who specialize in enamel production. Thanks to the time-honored enamel dial-making, a striking white appearance will endure for years to come.
The creation is powered by the new Caliber 6R5H, which features a 24-hour sub-dial at the six o’clock position. Its Arabic numerals are designed faithfully to those of the small seconds sub-dial that occupied the same position on the original.
The case back and the large crown carry the trademark "S" that Kintaro registered in 1900 as a symbol of the Seikosha factory. Despite the destruction of his company by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, he persevered and managed to launch the 1924 wristwatch the following year. On the new creation’s caseback, just above the trademark, appear his name and the quote that so aptly captured his philosophy for the company. The watch features movable lugs and a pull-through leather strap, which was common at the time of the original watch’s release. They have been crafted to ensure the comfort and durability necessary today.
A special pin badge with the same trademark “S” is included in the special box
that accompanies the watch.
The watch will be available from January 2024 at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners worldwide as a limited edition of 1,000.

Inspired by Seiko’s first diver’s watch from 1965
Representing the official global launch of the Marinemaster line, each new watch takes its design inspiration from what is known to fans as the iconic 62MAS of 1965, Seiko’s first watch for divers and the first diver’s watch made in Japan.
The 62MAS, Seiko's and Japan's first diver's watch.
A textured horizontal stripe pattern expresses lapping waves on each watch’s dial while adding a stylish touch to the new design, which features “Marinemaster” printed just below the Seiko logo at the 12 o’clock position. A silvery-white dial graces a limited-edition version commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Seiko brand, while light blue and black dials join the Prospex collection as standard watches.
Each watch’s hour, minute, and seconds hands inherit the design of those found on the 1965 diver’s watch, with legibility in dark lighting ensured by Lumibrite-filled indexes and a luminous pip on the unidirectional bezel.
Seiko's slimline mechanical diver's watch
Inside each watch is the automatic Seiko Caliber 6L37, the first movement in the slimline Caliber 6L series developed specifically to meet the rigors of diving while allowing a pleasingly slender profile and a high level of comfort on the wrist. Caliber 6L37 has been adapted from the earlier Caliber 6L35 to have greater shock resistance while maintaining the slender profile that characterizes the 6L movement family.
For the first time in a Seiko diver’s watch, the new Marinemaster creations feature an exhibition case back, allowing a view of this finely finished, high-performance mechanical movement. The development of a diver’s watch with a see-through case back, a feature that tends to add thickness, presented its own challenges. The new watch needed to maintain the high level of water and shock resistance that Prospex usually achieves with a closed case back while also keeping the profile thin. By reconsidering the case structure and using the slimline Caliber 6L37, Seiko created what is its thinnest mechanical diver’s watch currently (12.3mm) while adding a view of the movement.
The new 39.5mm case design balances functionality and aesthetics thanks to dramatic chamfering on the bezel and the case, which creates a sleeker and more modernized appearance while retaining the essential profile of the classic 62MAS from 1965. The combination of the hairline and mirror finishes on the case and bracelet endows the design with a sophisticated contrast and elegance.
A New Bracelet
Wearability and comfort are paramount in Seiko Prospex diver’s watches, and these qualities have been carefully cultivated in the new Marinemaster thanks to an entirely new bracelet that features ellipse-shaped links with mirror-finished, dual-curved surfaces. This, in combination with the slender case and high-performance movement, ensures that the new Marinemaster is imbued with the essence of a Seiko classic while also looking ahead to the future.
The new Marinemaster creation with a dial in silvery-white will be offered as a limited edition of 1,000. All three watches will initially be exclusive to Seiko Boutiques, starting in December, and then will be available at select retail partners worldwide in January 2024.
One hundred years of Seiko on the dial
Since the beginning of Seiko in 1881, the company has continued to innovate in line with the founder's philosophy to be "Always one step ahead of the rest." In 1924, the company introduced the first wristwatch with “Seiko” on the dial, signifying the beginning of the Seiko brand. The year 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of this landmark event.

The creation captures the character of a celebrated Speedtimer design from 1972.
In 2021, a new Speedtimer series was introduced into the Prospex collection in honor of Seiko’s rich and continuing tradition of sports timing. Today, a new creation with a new design for mechanical chronographs is born.
Shaped by heritage, the new timepiece inherits many of the design elements of a Speedtimer chronograph that was introduced in 1972. The flowing case design, multi-row bracelet, and highly legible panda-style dial with an orange-tipped chronograph seconds hand are all design cues inherited from the 1972 creation. The new case and bracelet are produced using Seiko’s latest watchmaking technologies, and the case and dial feature varying hairline finishing techniques to create a classic and refined presence. The multi-row bracelet is composed of fine links that provide movement while fully supporting the weight of the case to achieve comfort on the wrist.
Caliber 8R48 incorporates three sub-dials and a date window
between the four and five o’clock positions.
The new watch is powered by Caliber 8R48, which is hand-assembled by Seiko’s most skilled watchmakers. This chronograph movement’s vertical clutch and column wheel ensure the precision and reliability that are the hallmarks of the 8R movement series. Caliber 8R48 is constructed with robustness and maintainability in mind. Its escapement is lightweight and strong thanks to the use of MEMS technology, which enhances stability and precision. The chronograph pushers have been redesigned with shorter stems to further enhance the high operability for which the Speedtimer is renowned.
The chronograph seconds hand is gently curved down towards the dial so that the tip of the hand is as close as possible to the dial's markers and extends right to the tachymeter scale at the dial’s edge. The minute and hour hands, as well as the outer portions of the indexes, are generously coated with Lumibrite so that the time can be read even in low-light conditions.
A limited edition in celebration of the Seiko brand’s 100th anniversary.
Next year, 2024, marks the 100th anniversary of this landmark event.
The limited-edition model commemorating the 100th anniversary of this milestone has the same qualities and specifications as the newly designed mainstay mechanical chronograph but features a blue-grey dial with silver-white sub-dials. The watch comes with a metal bracelet, but if the wearer chooses, the bracelet can be switched with the included black leather strap, whose stitching is designed to increase its durability.
Both creations feature a solid case back for a slimmer design.
Both watches will be available at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail stores worldwide from December 2023.

Ever since its launch in 2016, Seiko Presage has showcased timepieces that meld traditional Japanese decorative crafts displaying deep, hard-earned know-how with Seiko’s own long-established mastery of mechanical watchmaking. In doing so, the Presage Craftsmanship Series puts a spotlight on artisans whose finesse in traditional Japanese crafts finds new life on the miniature canvas that is a Seiko watch dial.
A new dial layout to highlight artistry
Traditional craft dials in enamel, urushi lacquer, Shippo enamel, and Arita porcelain are at the heart of the Presage Craftsmanship Series. Today, with three creations featuring a newly refined dial layout, enamel and urushi lacquer harmonize perfectly with the overall watch designs. In the first creation, a pristine white enamel dial is brought to life by the hands of master craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team. The new dial incorporates grey metal bar indexes designed to stand out on the exquisitely crafted enamel, a material whose lauded depth and immutability can also be found on Seiko’s very first wristwatch from 1913, the Laurel.
The blue-colored hour, minute, and seconds hands contrast beautifully with the lustrous white dial.

The second creation has a deep black urushi lacquer dial created by hand by lacquer master Isshu Tamura and his team, who practice a centuries-old art – one older than watchmaking itself – to craft urushi that gains in strength as the years pass. As with the enamel dial, this creation has a newly designed dial layout that enhances the beauty and appearance of this traditional craft. The metal bar indexes in white contrast perfectly with the urushi lacquer, enhancing legibility. The urushi lacquer dial is also available in green, adding another color to the renewed Craftsmanship Series with new dials.
The newly developed five-row stainless steel bracelet with a mirror finish on the side is both elegant and ergonomic.
All three of the new Presage creations feature a recently updated case design with refined angles and an elegant sense of proportion conceived to highlight the craft in each dial. Together with the dual-curved sapphire crystals, the watches have a slimmer appearance on the wrist than previous creations in the series. Both the enamel dial watch and the black urushi lacquer dial watch come on handsome five-link stainless steel bracelets with super-hard coating, while the green urushi lacquer dial watch comes on a casually elegant brown leather strap with a three-fold clasp and push-button release.
The deep green urushi lacquer dial watch is presented with a brown leather strap sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries. *

]]>In 1993, the Seiko Landmaster series was born in Japan. Throughout its three-decade history, the series has earned the trust and met the needs of adventurers and mountaineers with repeated improvements to its specifications. In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the series, Seiko presents a new Prospex creation whose design is the high reliability of successive generations of Landmasters and the design of the most representative models.
With this new Landmaster, a light and comfortable fit is ensured through a case made of pure titanium, a material with excellent corrosion resistance, while a super hard coating protects from scratches. The compass ring and rotating bezel, hallmarks of the Landmaster series, have been given a three-dimensional shape for ease of operation and legibility. Powering the new Landmaster is the in-house caliber 8L35, created to withstand harsh environments. This highly accurate movement was assembled and adjusted by the skilled craftsmen and women of Shizukuishi.
On the bracelet, an adjuster function allows the user to adjust the length easily so that the watch can be worn over heavy Arctic clothing.
Three-dimensional indexes and thick hands ensure high legibility even in harsh environments.
Each of the hour markers has a generous coating of Lumibrite, as do the hands. The sapphire crystal with super clear coating ensures high legibility from any angle.
The blue gradation dial represents the view from the top of the Mount Everest. It’s said that at high altitudes in the mountains, where the air is thin and there is no diffuse reflection, the sky appears dark even during the daytime. The dial’s color expresses the way the sky gradually shifts to dark blue as the climber ascends step by step, as if the universe can be glimpsed through the sky.
The case back bears the words “Limited Edition” and carries the individual watch's serial number.

For its latest watch, Seiko Prospex has re-created the model from 1968 that was Seiko’s first GMT to feature a rotating bezel. The new limited edition is as faithful as possible to the classic sports design and compact dimensions that characterized the late-‘60s Navigator Timer. A distinctive five-row bracelet glitters to complete the watch’s classic and luxurious look.

Born in San Francisco, Bruce Lee was a film actor, martial artist, director, and teacher whose career spanned continents. He became a superstar with the smash hit The Big Boss (1971) but tragically passed away at the young age of 32 when he was filming Enter the Dragon (1973). Lee’s other films include Marlowe (1969), The Way of the Dragon (1972), and more. A multifaceted creator and martial arts expert, Lee founded Jeet Kune Do, which translates to “Way of the Intercepting Fist.” His work continues to attract fans from all over the world.
The dragon, which Lee drew in his lifetime, is shown on the dial. And the bezel represents the spirit of Jeet Kune Do with a phrase that translates to “Using no way as way; having no limitation as limitation.”
The black leather strap evokes the type of clothing worn in kung fu, with the dragon design on the inside. A nylon strap in the color of the yellow tracksuit worn by Bruce Lee will also be included.
The glass case back features the Jeet Kune Do core symbol, which is based on the yin-yang symbol. The case back is also marked with "Limited Edition" and the serial number.
*Item may differ in appearance from the image shown.
To commemorate the collaboration, the watch is enclosed in a specially designed box with Lee’s signature.

The history of Seiko began in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Ginza to repair and sell timepieces. In 1913, his company produced Japan’s first wristwatch, the Laurel, and has advanced the art of watchmaking in the ensuing years through both technology and craft.
The 1913 Laurel
Today, Seiko celebrates the 110th anniversary of the Laurel with the release of commemorative timepieces from the Presage, Prospex, Astron, and 5 Sports collections. Each watch demonstrates the high quality of modern Seiko watchmaking while looking back to Japan’s first wristwatch for inspiration.
Presage
Three new watches are introduced in the Presage collection and pay tribute to Seiko’s original wristwatch with designs that mirror that of the Laurel to varying degrees.
The first new creation joins the Presage Craftsmanship Series and closely follows the design of the Laurel in nearly every detail. Its pristine white enamel dial is the work of master craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team. Featuring a dial with a red “12” and classically styled blue hands, much like the Laurel, this creation is powered by Seiko’s high-performance Caliber 6R27. Crafted to stand the test of time, the lustrous white enamel dial displays the date at 6 o’clock and the power reserve at 9, while the case uses a recently updated design to emphasize the finely crafted dial and offer a slimmer look on the wrist.
Also from Presage, a new creation in the Sharp Edged Series features an angular, modern case and a subtle red mark at the 12 o’clock position on the inner ring in honor of the Laurel. The faceted hour and minute hands combine with the dial’s asanoha or “hemp leaf” pattern and the case’s sharp angles for a refined and modern look that exudes precision and quality.
The last of the Presage creations is a Style60’s GMT powered by Caliber 4R34. Here, the blue hands, including the one for the GMT function, stand out against the dial while harmonizing with the classically styled case and bezel to provide excellent legibility and an unmistakable mid-century appearance. An inner ring with a small red mark at 12 o'clock enables precise indication of the minutes and seconds. Thanks to an application of Lumibrite on the hour and minute hands, the time is always easy to read, day or night.
Prospex
Prospex remembers the Laurel with two new creations, one built for sports timing and the other for traveling to new frontiers.
The first, a Speedtimer solar chronograph, is an analog chronograph capable of measuring elapsed time to 1/100th of a second. The sub-dial hands at the two, 10, and 12 o’clock positions are a vivid shade of red in honor of the Laurel. And like the early Seiko inspiration, the dial is a bright white. Black sub-dials provide this Speedtimer chronograph with a layout that enhances legibility while making a subtle nod to vintage Seiko chronographs.
The other Prospex creation is a Seiko Alpinist that features the latest GMT movement from the tried and trusted 6R family of movements in which the power reserve has been extended to 72 hours or three full days. As with the 1913 classic, blue-colored hands are set against a light-colored dial. A red mark on the compass ring reinforces the connection to the Laurel while indicating the cardinal direction north.
Astron
Born with the world’s first commercially available quartz watch, the Astron name is, much like the Laurel, synonymous with innovation. Powered by the latest Astron GPS Solar movement, Caliber 3X62, the new creation features an updated design with a faceted titanium bezel that debuted this year. The simple white dial is a tribute to the Laurel, and the inner dial ring is punctuated by numerals every five minutes, with a single red “60” at the 12 o’clock position in honor of the Laurel. A lone sub-dial indicates the receiving process of GPS signals as well as the watch’s charging status, leap second data receipt, and in-flight mode.
This watch connects automatically up to twice a day* to the GPS network to maintain its precision of one second every 100,000 years.
*When the dial detects sunlight, the watch connects to the GPS satellite network and adjusts automatically to the correct time. If the watch is hidden from light, it remembers the time of its last successful manual connection and attempts to receive the GPS signal again at that same time.
5 Sports
And finally, the 5 Sports watch features a dial with accents chosen in honor of the Laurel. The hands, for example, are blue, while red numerals are used for the 24-hour scale. Stylish, functional, durable, and fun, this self-winding creation features indications for the day and the date in addition to the time. It comes on a handsome five-link bracelet crafted in stainless steel.
Each creation comes with a strap made with leather from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries, either as the main form of attachment or in addition to the bracelet pictured. All the watches will be available at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail stores worldwide as limited editions from October 2023.

When the Caliber 9S debuted in 1998, it ushered in a new era of Grand Seiko mechanical watchmaking. An entirely new movement, Caliber 9S was designed from scratch to deliver the high precision and excellent durability for which Grand Seiko was already renowned. It became the platform on which all Grand Seiko mechanical watches would be built, giving rise to a full series of movements with different functions, escapements, and complications. These include the revolutionary Caliber 9SA5 with its Dual-Impulse Escapement and Grand Seiko’s first mechanical chronograph, the Tentagraph. And, of course, there have been GMT watches in a diverse range of styles, including several timepieces with Hi-Beat movements.
To celebrate 25 years of Caliber 9S mechanical watchmaking, Grand Seiko is releasing two new GMTs in its Sport and Elegance Collections, each drawing inspiration from the skies over Mt. Iwate in Iwate Prefecture, where all Grand Seiko mechanical watches are hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen and women.

A new slim wristwatch with an intricately patterned dial captures the spirit of the Tokyo area, where King Seiko was born in the 1960s.
The patterned white dial is based on the chrysanthemum, recognized as one of the national flowers of Japan. Representing longevity and rejuvenation, the chrysanthemum holds great significance in Japanese culture. The auspicious flower is expressed through a pattern of finely intersecting lines called kiku tsunagi-mon, which, in Japanese, signifies a chrysanthemum pattern that connects with itself. This pattern is especially associated with edo-kiriko glassware, a form of traditional cut glass considered to be one of the most popular craftworks from Japan. Edo-kiriko, which translates to “faceted objects of Edo,” is renowned for its intricate beauty and its unique designs achieved through the skillful cutting of glass into multiple facets. The combination of the angular case and faceted hands with this intricate dial brings a new level of beauty and refinement to the King Seiko collection.
The watch’s construction is inspired by the 1965 King Seiko KSK, whose sharp, angular case and high functionality helped define King Seiko’s character when it was introduced. The cases are angular and faceted, with large, flat planes and sharp angles, and they have been polished to reflect light pleasingly. Together with the case, the new creation’s faceted hour and minute hands demonstrate the high quality of modern Seiko manufacturing and harmonize with the precision and beauty of the chrysanthemum pattern so central to Japanese culture and one of its traditional craftworks. The watch is offered with an additional grey leather strap whose color and texture complement the patterned dial.
Powered by Seiko’s slimline Caliber 6L35, the new watch is thinner than the original King Seiko KSK, despite having automatic winding and a date window, thanks to enhancements in the case construction. The watch will be available at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail stores worldwide as a limited edition from October 2023.

This new timepiece mirrors the design and dimensions of the original 1965 watch but features modern enhancements of contemporary Seiko watchmaking. It has a box-shaped sapphire crystal and 200 meters of water resistance for greater reliability.
The watch is powered by the new Caliber 6L37, the first movement from the slimline 6L family and features a diashock structure to enhance shock resistance made expressly for diver’s watches.
In 1965, Seiko introduced its, and Japan’s, first-ever diver’s watch. With an automatic movement and water resistance to 150 meters, the watch proved its reliability when it was used by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969. In the years that followed, Seiko created many other diver’s watches that, thanks to their high quality and reliability, found favor with professional divers and adventurers alike. Today, Seiko introduces a re-creation of the 1965 watch, known to fans as the 62MAS. The new timepiece’s design and dimensions are virtually identical to the original, while its specifications are thoroughly up to date.
The watch is faithful to the original in every detail but also features modern enhancements of contemporary Seiko watchmaking. It has a box-shaped sapphire crystal and 200 meters of water resistance for greater reliability. The text on the dial is faithful to the style of the original yet updated to reflect current specifications. The hands and all 12 markers, including the marker by the date window and the pip on the unidirectional bezel, are filled with Lumibrite to enhance legibility in low-light conditions.
The case back bears the same dolphin emblem as the 1965 original.
*In the actual product, the case back direction might be different from the photograph.

Seiko’s tradition as a pioneer in sports timing began in the 1960s, when the company introduced to the world’s sporting stage a range of timing devices that set a new global standard for precision. Today, Seiko introduces into the Prospex collection four new solar chronographs inspired by Seiko’s rich and continuing tradition of sports timing. All four watches are equipped with the new solar chronograph Caliber 8A50, which measures elapsed time in increments of 1/100th of a second.
The new creations feature a 1/100th of a second chronograph counter at the two o’clock position, a seconds counter at 12 o’clock, and a 1/10th of a second counter at 10 o’clock. A time-of-day sub-dial displaying the hours and the minutes is at the six o’clock position, to differentiate clearly the time-of-day from the chronograph functions. When the stopwatch function is utilized, the time-of-day sub-dial becomes a 60-minute counter, with the hour hand remaining hidden beneath the minute hand. In each watch, the hands contrast with the sub-dials to enhance legibility. The hour and minute hands, as well as the indexes of the time-of-day display, are filled with Lumibrite to enhance legibility in the dark. The pushers are specially designed to ensure the high operability and high accuracy when measuring elapsed time, crucial to every Prospex Speedtimer creation.
Since 1985, Seiko has been the timekeeper of choice for World Athletics. In 2023, for the 18th consecutive time, Seiko will be the official timekeeper of the World Athletics Championships, which will be competed in Budapest, Hungary. This new limited edition solar chronograph celebrates the sporting heritage of both Seiko and the World Athletics Championships. The dial features a texture that evokes the surface of the running track, and the hands, as well as the outer ring of each sub-dial, are in gold coloring to call to mind the first-place medal.
The limited-edition creation with the grey-toned dial celebrates the 40th anniversary of the world’s first analog quartz chronograph, introduced in 1983. The dial and reddish-orange hands pay respect to the world’s first analog chronograph that displayed elapsed time in increments of 1/100th of a second, which was introduced by Seiko nine years later, in 1992. This was a particularly epoch-making development in the history of Seiko’s analog quartz chronograph.
All four watches will be available at the Seiko Boutiques and select retail stores worldwide from July 2023. Both commemorative watches will be available as limited editions of 4,000 worldwide.

The refinement and elegance of the original 1965 KSK inspire the new series.
Though it was not the first King Seiko watch, the 1965 King Seiko KSK was, with its sharp, angular case and high functionality, the one that ultimately defined King Seiko’s character. With its resistance to water and use of a hacking seconds hand, the King Seiko KSK was more than bold and beautiful. It was an eminently practical watch that earned legions of fans. Since 2022, Seiko has revived this classic style in the King Seiko collection while endowing the resulting watches with the modern enhancements of contemporary watchmaking. Today, Seiko introduces two new timepieces inspired by the classic KSK, each powered by the slimline Caliber 6L35. This marks the movement's first appearance in the main King Seiko collection.
The new creations are thinner than their manually wound vintage inspiration.
Each of the two new creations features an elegant dial befitting a watch bearing the King Seiko signature. The first is silver-colored and has a new sunray finishing technique that endows the watch with a finish more understated and delicate than previous KSK-based creations, resulting in a look that is even closer to the original.
The second features a new shade of black created especially to harmonize with the new case design, making for a sophisticated presence.
The new creations present a classic yet modern profile.
On each new creation, the hour and minute hands are faceted, demonstrating the high-quality manufacturing used to craft modern timepieces that honor the King Seiko legacy and advance the collection into today’s era. On the black dial, the hands have a fine hairline finish that heightens the level of contrast with the dial’s dark surface and enhances legibility.
A refined case design with slimmer lugs graces each new watch. They are faceted, with large, flat planes and sharp angles. The surfaces are polished to achieve a distortion-free, mirror finish, causing the cases to reflect light in a pleasing manner that complements the new dials. The combination of an angular case with a flat dial with faceted hands effectively captures the refinement of the original 1965 KSK.
A box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inner surface delivers high legibility from any angle.
Not only are the new watches slimmer than the previous limited-edition King Seiko watches that also used the 6L35 movement, but they are also 0.2mm thinner than the original King Seiko KSK, despite having automatic winding and a date window. This is made possible thanks to enhancements in the case construction and the boxed-shaped crystal whose height has been reduced.
Combined with the elegant bracelet, an artful melding of proportions, design, and functionality results in watches capable of moving gracefully with wearers as they go about their daily lives, from relaxed to formal situations and everywhere in between.
Both watches will be available at select retailers nationwide in Summer 2023.

Caliber 3X62
Each of the new watches is powered by a new GPS Solar movement, Caliber 3X62, whose enhanced reception of solar signals allowed for greater freedom in design. The watch connects automatically up to twice a day* to the GPS network to maintain its precision of one second every 100,000 years.
*When the dial detects sunlight, the watch connects to the GPS satellite network and adjusts automatically to the correct time. If the watch is hidden from light, it remembers the time of its last successful manual connection and attempts to receive the GPS signal again at that same time.
The new series has a dynamic presence thanks to the dimensional case and the faceted bezel with hairline finishing on top, which contrasts with the polished sides. The case lines flow seamlessly through the lugs to an integrated bracelet that has a sharp design that matches the angular case to give the watches a refined appearance. This bracelet tapers neatly toward the clasp, reinforcing its harmonious and graceful look.
All four watches feature a dial with a simple design with a single sub-dial at 8 o’clock that indicates the receiving process of GPS satellites as well as the watch’s charging status, leap second data receipt, and in-flight mode. Matched to the color of the bezel, the applied indexes and the hour and minute hands, all filled with Lumibrite, enable easy reading in every viewing condition. The blue, grey, and black dials feature a pattern that evokes the quartz crystals used to create the tuning fork-shaped quartz oscillators of the original Quartz Astron introduced by Seiko in 1969. The Astron name, long associated with accuracy, has been carried on by the Astron GPS Solar series since 2012.
The indexes and the hour and minute hands of all the watches are all filled with Lumibrite, enhancing legibility in low-light conditions.
Comfortable on the wrist
The titanium case and bracelet have a scratch-resistant super-hard coating, and thanks to titanium’s light weight and the case’s low center of gravity, the watches sit comfortably on the wrist.
The limited-edition watch features the same design characteristics as the other three creations but has a dial with horizontal stripes in alternating shades of grey.
Introduced in 2020, the Seiko Presage Sharp Edged Series quickly gained a reputation for its angular silhouette, distinctively patterned dial, and hands and indexes that reflect light while enhancing legibility. Revealing a powerful expression of Japanese artistry and aesthetics combined with state-of-the-art mechanical watchmaking, the series demonstrated the expansive skills and advanced manufacturing techniques of Seiko watchmaking. Today, a new three-day automatic movement and a new design join the Sharp Edged Series.

Ever since its first diver’s watch in 1965, Seiko has developed new technologies, features and designs that have made the Seiko Prospex diver’s watch collection a favorite among professional and recreational divers the world over. Through more than a half-century of innovation, Seiko has continuously pushed back the boundaries of where sports watches, and diver’s watches in particular, can go and how they can be used. Continuous enhancements over the decades in safety, reliability, legibility, and ease of use have made Seiko a leader in diver’s watches.
Seiko is introducing a new movement in the long-trusted 6R family that has a GMT function and a power reserve extended to a full 72 hours. Caliber 6R54 is presented in three new Prospex creations that are all modern re-interpretations of a Seiko classic from 1968 and are designed for diving with 200-meter water resistance.
Design
The GMT hand can be set independently in one-hour increments without interrupting the time-of-day hands and allows the wearer to see, at a glance, the time in a second time zone. Each new watch adds the GMT hand while incorporating 200 meters of water resistance, a highly legible Lumibrite-equipped dial, and a unidirectional bezel in scratch-resistant ceramic. And the automatic mechanical movement runs for three full days when fully wound.
While the watch’s design reflects its heritage, every aspect of this new creation is fully up to date in specification and execution. The case design is inherited from the 1968 original, and the case sides are mirror finished. The edge of the unidirectionally rotating bezel offers easy control.
The watch has a stainless steel case with super-hard coating and appears on a new three-link stainless steel bracelet that has a slim profile that allows it to sit securely and comfortably on the wrist.

There is also a limited-edition watch that celebrates the 110th anniversary of Seiko’s, and Japan’s, first wristwatch. Distinguished by an intricately textured ice-blue dial, this watch captures the power of the polar glaciers that shape the landscapes and seascapes of the Arctic and Antarctic, where Seiko’s reputation for reliable and durable watches was forged in the 1960s and ‘70s when adventurers and researchers wore them on expeditions to the North and South Poles.
The limited edition shares the same case and bracelet with the other two models, but it comes with an additional strap made entirely of recycled plastic bottles. It was created using a traditional Japanese braiding technique called Seichu.

Five years after making Japan’s first diver’s watch in 1965, Seiko introduced a new diver’s watch with a flowing case design and an asymmetrical extension that protected the crown at the four o’clock position.
This 1970 diver’s watch proved its reliability in extreme conditions when it was worn by Japanese adventurer Naomi Uemura in the Arctic region.
Born in 1941, Naomi Uemura was a university student when he took on the challenge of his first mountain climb. By the age of 29, he had climbed Mont Blanc, Mt. Kilimanjaro, and Mt. Aconcagua, and, in 1970, he became the first Japanese mountaineer to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. Just three months later, he reached the top of Alaska’s Denali (then known as Mt. McKinley) and thus became the first adventurer in the world to reach the summits of all five of these peaks.
Today, Uemura’s ascents of these five mountains are commemorated with a 500-piece limited edition watch whose dial depicts Mont Blanc, the first of these climbs.
Mont blanc’s soaring summit as seen by Uemura.
The textured dial features an image of the distinctive silhouette and contours of Mont Blanc over a patterned backdrop that echoes the mountain’s rocky and snowy surface. Pressing and etching techniques are used to give the dial depth and bring the 4,807-meter peak to life. Mont Blanc is presented at the very same angle from which Uemura began his ascent.
All of the hour markers have a generous coating of Lumibrite, as do the hands, to maximize legibility in the dark. Thanks to the positioning of the date window between four and five o’clock, 12 luminous hour markers are possible.
The watch is presented in a special box featuring a saying of Naomi Uemura.
“When one dream is realized,
other dreams will follow.”

The pristine white enamel dial created by master craftsman Mitsuru Yokosawa and his team features a red roman numeral at 12 o’clock, evoking the original Laurel wristwatch of 1913.
Beneath the dial is Caliber 6R24, with displays for the date, the day of the week, and the power reserve. Presented on a black leather strap, this watch makes a classic impression. Thanks to the time-honored enamel dial-making, its striking white appearance will endure for years to come.
Urushi lacquer is a centuries-old decorative art that is practically synonymous with Japanese craft. Typically found on fine objects such as soup bowls or furniture, Urushi comes to life on this dial through an innovative method employed to achieve a flat surface. The coppery brown hue is inspired by the streetscape of Ishikawa Prefecture’s city of Kanazawa, an evocatively named city that means “marsh of gold.”
There, Urushi master Isshu Tamura and his team employ techniques to make some of the most distinctive Urushi lacquer in all of Japan. Like the white enamel dial watch, the Urushi lacquer creation is also powered by Caliber 6R24. It is presented on a dark brown leather strap.
This dial’s new ivory color transports the wearer to the Izumiyama Ceramic Stone Field in Arita, a small town in Saga Prefecture that is, after more than 400 years of history, inseparable from Japanese porcelain. Master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi and his team make the dials in a multi-stage process that requires tremendous skill and patience, and several firings in a scorching kiln, to lock in rich color, texture, and depth for years to come.
The movement in this watch is Seiko’s high-performance Caliber 6R27, with a sub-dial at 6 o’clock for the date and a power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock. The watch is presented on a dark brown leather strap.
What sets Shippo enamel apart is the way it is polished after firing. The process is made more complex by the fact that each watch dial is a mere one millimeter thick. Master craftsman Wataru Totani and his team repeat a multi-step process of glazing the surface of the dial by hand, firing the dial, and polishing its surface to bring out the distinctive wave pattern. Though slender, this dial has a readily visible depth, like the oceans that inspired its design.
The watch is powered by Caliber 6R27, whose date and power reserve displays add yet another layer of visual intrigue. It is presented in a dark blue leather strap.
The history of Seiko began in 1881 when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop in Ginza to repair and sell timepieces. In 1913, his company produced Japan’s first wristwatch, the Laurel, and many achievements that have advanced the art of watchmaking followed, including the original King Seiko of 1961. In 2023, Seiko will celebrate the 110th anniversary of its first wristwatch with the release of a series of commemorative timepieces including a new King Seiko.
The Kameido district of Tokyo is the birthplace of King Seiko. Once it was called "Turtle Island" because its shape resembled the shell of a turtle, a popular animal in Japanese culture associated with longevity. King Seiko’s origins have inspired a new dial pattern with a textured turtle shell motif. The dark brown gradation of the dial harmonizes beautifully with the turtle shell pattern.
The case, combined with the boxed-shaped sapphire crystal, gives the watch a slim and elegant feel. An anti-reflective coating on the inner surface of the crystal delivers high legibility from any angle.
The bold, faceted lugs have sharp angles and wide flat surfaces that feature both mirror and hairline finishing, creating a sense of precision. The 12 o’clock index is more than twice the width of the others and has a patterned texture specially crafted to ensure high legibility and to give the dial a bright sparkle that invites the eye.
In addition to a vintage-inspired seven-link stainless steel bracelet, the watch comes with a leather strap manufactured by a tannery certified by the Leather Working Group. For ease of use, the strap can be secured with a three-fold clasp marked "KING SEIKO.”

The latest Speedtimer chronograph takes inspiration from Seiko's first stopwatch designed for timing winter sports. As the official timing device at a major sporting event held in Sapporo in 1972, the original stopwatch’s features were tailored for winter conditions. These included a black dial for high legibility during competitions conducted on snow.
